Training with your partner or a small group of friends is one of the most sustainable formats in fitness — better accountability, lower per-person cost, and a shared health commitment that changes households, not just individuals. Here's how couples and small-group training works at FYTS Fitness in Westlake Village.
The research on training accountability is clear: adults who train with a spouse, partner, or committed workout partner have 3x the adherence of solo trainees over a 12-month period (Anderson-Bill et al. 2011). The reasons:

What actually happens in a FYTS couples session:
It's not a "class." It's two individualized coaching relationships happening in the same room at the same time.
Example: Wife has been lifting for 3 years, husband hasn't consistently trained since college.
How we handle it: She's on a full progressive strength program. He's on a beginner foundation program. They train side by side, but the actual exercises, loads, and rep ranges are different.
Example: One partner wants marathon prep, the other wants muscle gain.
How we handle it: Both goals accommodated in the same session. Strength focus for the marathoner (2x/week), hypertrophy focus for the muscle-builder (3–4 exercises tailored to that goal). Shared warm-up and cool-down.
Example: Husband has chronic knee issues, wife is uninjured.
How we handle it: His program avoids high-knee-stress movements (deep squats), uses substitutions (leg press with limited ROM, RDLs, split squats). Her program runs normally. No compromise for either.
Example: Couple starting their first training program together.
How we handle it: Same foundational program for both — perfect scenario. Both learn the basics simultaneously, keep each other accountable, celebrate milestones together.
Same model, more people:
Ideal group size is 3–4 people. Beyond that, coaching quality drops. If you have 6+ people wanting to train together, we recommend two overlapping sessions.

Then couples training doesn't work for you — you need solo sessions. That's fine. But if you can align 2 days a week for 60 minutes, couples training almost always beats solo for adherence and cost.
"We fight when we work out together."
Actually rare when a coach is present. Most couples describe the opposite — training together becomes their favorite shared activity because a coach removes the "who's right" tension around form and programming.
Total: 90 minutes for a couples first session (versus 75 min for solo).
